Privacy policy.

How your personal information is collected, used and protected when you use this website or work with me.

Last updated: 2 September 2026

Who I am

Your Life Therapy ("I", "me") provides integrative counselling, mentoring and workshops, online across the UK and in person. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact me about anything in it at info@yourlifetherapy.co.uk.

What information I collect

  • Enquiries and contact forms — your name, email address, phone number (optional), the topic of your enquiry, preferred times and your message.
  • Bookings — the details you enter in the booking calendar: name, contact details, the session type and appointment time, and any notes you add.
  • Client records — if we work together, brief session notes and the information needed to provide therapy safely and professionally.
  • Reflections — if you choose to share a reflection for the reflections wall: your reflection text, first name (if shared publicly) and email.
  • Client portal — your email address is used to send a one-time sign-in link; a session token is stored in your browser while you are signed in.

I do not collect more than is needed, and this website does not use advertising or cross-site tracking.

How your information is used

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange or manage appointments.
  • To provide counselling, mentoring and workshops, and keep the records required to do so responsibly.
  • To send appointment confirmations and, where you request one, sign-in links for the client portal.
  • To publish a reflection on the reflections wall — only after you submit it for that purpose and it has been reviewed.

The lawful bases relied on are: taking steps you request before entering an agreement, performance of that agreement, legitimate interests in running the practice, and consent where required (for example, publishing a reflection). For any health-related information shared in therapy, the additional condition is the provision of health care under professional confidentiality.

Where your information is stored

Enquiries, bookings and client contact records are stored in the practice's client management system, provided by HighLevel Inc. ("GoHighLevel" / LeadConnector), which also powers the booking calendar on this site. GoHighLevel stores data on servers that may be located outside the UK, including in the United States; transfers are protected by that provider's data-processing agreement and standard contractual safeguards.

Your browser also stores a small amount of information locally — see the Cookie Policy for details.

Confidentiality

What you share in therapy is confidential. Confidentiality may only be limited in exceptional circumstances: where there is a serious risk of harm to you or to someone else, where required by law (for example, a court order), or in supervision, where anonymised material may be discussed as part of good professional practice in line with NCPS requirements.

How long information is kept

  • Enquiries that do not lead to work together — up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Client records and session notes — kept for the period required by professional body and insurance requirements after our work ends, then securely deleted.
  • Published reflections — until you ask for removal, which you can do at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • access a copy of the personal information held about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • ask for your information to be deleted;
  • restrict or object to how it is used;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing.

To exercise any of these, email info@yourlifetherapy.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
